Activity 6: RSS

I think an RSS feed is very helpful in everyday life. I used to spend a lot of time looking up blogs for new posts but then I started using the RSS feed bloglovin and it really helped me! Now I use bloglovin for updates on all the blogs I read. But I do think the Google Reader was very easy to use and easy to search for blogs.

Activity 5: Social Networking

I am not very concerned with privacy when it comes to Facebook. I ensure my privacy on Facebook by only adding people I know as friends and by setting my privacy settings so only my friends can see my profile. After reading the first article I learned new ways to edit my settings to make them even more private to my friends. I agreed with all of the etiquette tips.
In my personal experience social networking sites make me feel more connected with my friends. It helps me maintain relationships that would have been nearly impossible to have without social networking sites.
I can see how the flocking of different races from one social network to another is plausible but I am not quite sure if its because of the racist reasons she is stating int he article.
LinkedIn looks like it would be better for a more profession social networking site but it doesn't look like it would be much fun.

Activity 4: Social Bookmarking

I can see how using a web site like delicious could help me personally and in my pursuit of the nursing profession. I have already found a couple new interesting sites through this project that pertain to my career choice and I look forward to reading them. I bookmarked the site Webicina on nursing. The tags I chose to use for this site were blogs, blog, web 2.0, nursing and news. Some of the potential benefits to social bookmarking is the possibility of meeting new people with similar interests or simply sharing my favorite sites with others.

Activity 3: Flickr

  • There were no tags originally for this photo. I would recommend the tags levitation, scarf, book and floating.
  • The Library of Congress partnership with Flickr is really interesting. I love that we can see such an expansive collection of historical images .
  • I upload images to Facebook, While I think they're similar I think facebook is more personal and flickr is more artistic.
  • I don't have any issues or concerns with public photos.
